Book 21: "So You Want To Be An Actor"
(9781972766231, $19.99 PB, $2.99 Kindle, 38pp)

The script is memorized, the costume fits, and the stage is set -- but none of that is the real work of becoming an actor.

"So You Want To Be An Actor: A Kids' Guide to Acting, Auditions, Stage and Screen Performance, and the Talented Performers Who Bring Characters to Life" pulls back the curtain on one of the oldest and most demanding performing arts careers on earth -- not the red-carpet fantasy, but the real one. Written for young readers ages 10 to 14, this illustrated nonfiction guide takes kids and tweens inside the rehearsal rooms, audition halls, and theater stages where actors learn their craft from the ground up. It's honest, specific, and built for the curious mind that wants to know what this profession actually looks like before the applause starts.

Inside these pages, young actors and aspiring performers will discover how real training works - the voice and movement exercises that turn a body into an expressive instrument, the script analysis that reveals what a character is truly saying beneath the words, and the drama techniques that let a performer live truthfully in someone else's circumstances. From stage to screen to voice work to physical theater, this book covers the full range of the acting world and what each path demands.

But this isn't just a guide to technique. It's a book about resilience. Actors face rejection not as a rare setback but as the daily texture of a working life. Young readers will learn how performers build the emotional strength to audition again and again, how they prepare scenes and monologues with discipline and imagination, and why the people who stay in this profession say that when a performance truly lands (when the room goes still and something shifts) nothing else comes close.

Whether your child has been cast in every school play since second grade or is quietly reading every part in every story they encounter, this book meets them where they are. It doesn't talk down. It doesn't oversimplify. It treats kids as capable of understanding the real demands of a career in acting - the physical, vocal, and psychological work that sits behind every performance that looks effortless.

Comedy or drama, stage or screen, the greatest performance anyone has ever seen began with someone who was willing to go somewhere true. For the young performer ready to find out if that someone might be them.

Book 22: "So You Want To Be A Toy Designer"
(9781972766255, $19.99 PB, $2.99 Kindle, 38pp)

The best toy ever made feels like it always existed -- but someone had to invent it. "So You Want To Be A Toy Designer: A Kids' Guide to Toy Invention, Product Design, Prototyping, and the Creative Minds Who Dream Up the Toys We Can't Stop Playing With" takes kids ages 10-14 inside one of the most creatively demanding careers in all of product design, and it does not hold back.

This is not a simplified, watered-down look at a fun job. It is a real, honest guide to what toy designers actually do -- the years of industrial design training, the child development study, the materials engineering, and the iterative prototyping that happen long before a single toy reaches a shelf. You will discover how designers learn to see the world through a child's eyes while solving complex engineering problems, and why that combination of imagination and technical skill makes toy design one of the most unique professions a young person can pursue.

Inside "So You Want To Be A Toy Designer", you will follow the full design process from first sketch to working prototype to safety testing. You will learn how designers draw on child psychology to understand how play shapes learning at every age. You will see how teams of engineers, creative designers, and manufacturing specialists work together to turn an idea into something a six-year-old picks up, plays with for hours, and refuses to put down. And you will meet the visionary inventors whose toys became the defining objects of childhood for generations.

But "So You Want To Be A Toy Designer" goes further than most career guides for kids. It explores the real skills toy designers build (sketching, 3D modeling, materials science, understanding how small hands interact with objects) and shows what young readers can start doing right now to develop those same abilities. Whether you love to draw, build, tinker, or simply take things apart to understand how they work, "So You Want To Be A Toy Designer" helps you see how those instincts connect to a real profession.

Illustrated throughout with detailed, engaging artwork, this nonfiction guide treats its readers as equals. It brings the same depth and honesty that boys and girls ages 10-14 and up deserve when they ask a serious question about their future. No talking down. No sugarcoating. Just a clear, fascinating window into the craft behind the toys you grew up loving.

The toy that will define the next generation of childhood has not been designed yet. It is waiting for someone with the curiosity, the craft, and the joy to bring it into the world -- and that someone might be you!

Book 23: "So You Want To Be A Surgeon"
(9781972766224, $19.99 PB, $2.99 Kindle, 38pp)

What does it really take to become a surgeon -- not in the movies or on TV, but in real life?

"So You Want To Be A Surgeon: A Kids' Guide to Surgery, Human Anatomy, Operating Rooms, and the Steady-Handed Doctors Who Save Lives One Procedure at a Time" answers that question for curious young readers ages 10 to 14 with the kind of honesty and depth they deserve. This illustrated nonfiction guide takes you inside the operating room, through the years of medical school and residency, and into the extraordinary world where science, anatomy, and steady hands come together to save lives.

You will discover what surgeons actually do every day -- the three-dimensional mastery of the human body that takes years to develop, the procedural techniques built through thousands of hours until the movements are as reliable as breathing, and the split-second decisions made when the unexpected happens during surgery. You will meet the team that makes it all possible: anesthesiologists, scrub nurses, surgical technologists, and residents working in precise coordination so that one doctor, at the critical moment, can do what only a surgeon can.

"So You Want To Be A Surgeon" covers the full landscape of surgical careers, from pediatric surgery to cardiac and neurosurgery to cutting-edge robotic-assisted procedures. Each specialty comes with its own demands, its own rewards, and its own kind of courage. You'll learn what the training path looks like from the very first anatomy class through the day a surgeon stands at the head of their own operating table -- and what young people can do right now to explore whether medicine might be their calling.

What makes this different from other careers books for kids? It doesn't simplify the truth -- it brings you all the way in. The science is real. The illustrations help you see what surgeons see. The language treats you as someone capable of understanding hard, fascinating things about the human body and the people who dedicate their lives to healing it.

"So You Want To Be A Surgeon" is also a book about what surgery demands beyond skill -- the physical endurance of standing for hours, the mental discipline of absolute focus, and the compassion that drives every doctor who has ever scrubbed in knowing that someone's life depends on what happens next. It's educational, it's fun to explore, and it's the kind of gift that might just plant the seed of a lifelong calling.

Somewhere right now, a surgeon is preparing for a procedure that will change someone's life. The room is ready. The team is in place. And the steady hands doing the work belong to someone who once wondered (just like you might be wondering right now) whether this incredible vocational path could be theirs.

Book 24: "So You Want To Be A Stunt Performer"
(9781972766248, $19.99 PB, $2.99 Kindle, 38pp)

Stunt performers are among the most skilled, disciplined, and invisible professionals in the movie and television industry. They train for years across martial arts, gymnastics, precision driving, high falls, wire work, fire, and water -- mastering each discipline so completely that real danger is replaced by extraordinary preparation. And yet most audiences never think about them at all. That is the job done right.

"So You Want To Be A Stunt Performer: A Kids' Guide to Stunts, Action Choreography, Safety Training, and the Fearless Performers Who Make Movie Magic Look Real" opens this fearless, fascinating career for kids ages 10 to 14 who want to know how it really works. Not just the spectacular moments caught on camera, but the months of choreography, rehearsal, physics, and problem-solving that make those moments possible. This is nonfiction that treats young readers as equals -- curious, capable, and ready for the real story.

Inside "So You Want To Be A Stunt Performer", you will learn how fight choreography is designed across multiple combat styles so every hit looks devastating but no one gets hurt. You will discover how stunt performers train in precision driving and motorcycle work at speeds that would be catastrophic without total technical mastery. You will see how high falls are calculated so the physics of impact is never left to chance, and how fire stunts are performed with a calm built entirely on preparation rather than recklessness.

You will also meet the team that surrounds every stunt -- coordinators, riggers, safety specialists, and camera operators working together so that a three-second moment in a movie is planned and executed with surgical precision. You will also explore the history of stunt performance and the legendary performers who shaped the action filmmaking we know today. And you will find out what young people can start doing right now (the sports, the training, the mindset) to discover if this career might be their path.

Richly illustrated and thoroughly researched, "So You Want To Be A Stunt Performer" is a guide that covers the science behind controlled danger, the physical and mental demands of the profession, and the real jobs and career steps that lead from training to the set. It is honest about what the work costs and what it demands, because kids who dream big deserve answers that match the size of their ambition.

The greatest compliment a stunt performer can receive is an audience that never once thinks about them -- because all they see is the story. If you are the kind of reader who watches the impossible and immediately wonders how it was done, "So You Want To Be A Stunt Performer" was written for you.

Amazon
https://www.amazon.com/You-Want-Scientist-Experiments-Scientific/dp/197276621X

Book 25: "So You Want To Be A Scientist"
(9781972766217, $19.99 PB, $2.99 Kindle, 38pp)

A scientist is not the person with all the answers -- a scientist is the person who cannot stop asking the questions.

"So You Want To Be A Scientist: A Kids' Guide to Science, Experiments, the Scientific Method, and the Curious Minds Who Ask Big Questions and Discover How the World Works" is an illustrated guide for curious kids ages 10 - 14 who want to know what it really means to pursue a life in science. Not the simplified version. The real one -- with all its rigor, its wonder, and its hard-earned rewards.

Young readers will learn how scientists think, work, and discover. They'll follow the full journey from forming a hypothesis to designing experiments, analyzing data, and sharing findings with the world. They'll see how a single well-formed question can open doors that no one knew existed -- and how a poorly formed one, no matter how brilliantly pursued, leads nowhere. That distinction matters, and "So You Want To Be A Scientist" takes the time to explain why.

The science careers explored here span biology, chemistry, physics, neuroscience, climate science, and more. Each field demands its own blend of creative imagination and intellectual discipline. Readers will meet the remarkable scientists throughout history whose questions - and whose courage to follow the evidence wherever it led -- reshaped our understanding of everything from cells to stars.

"So You Want To Be A Scientist" also tells the truth about what the work requires. The experiments that fail before one succeeds. The peer review process that holds every claim to a standard before it earns the name of knowledge. The teamwork among researchers, statisticians, and fellow scientists that turns one person's discovery into something the whole world can build on. It's demanding, sometimes frustrating, and deeply rewarding in a way that nothing else quite matches.

Written with honesty and warmth, "So You Want To Be A Scientist" is an illustrated nonfiction book treats its young audience as the thinkers they are. It doesn't gloss over the difficult parts or dress up the science in costumes. It brings children all the way inside the work and lets them decide for themselves whether this might be their calling.

For every kid who needs to know why things work the way they do. For the one whose curiosity runs deeper than any textbook can satisfy. The next great discovery starts with a question -- and someone brave enough to seek the answer.

Critique: Exceptionally informative, deftly crafted, nicely illustrated, thoroughly 'kid friendly' in organization and presentation, each individual title in the "So You Want To Be A..." series by Linda Soules is an extraordinary and unreservedly recommended pick for family, elementary school, middle school, and community library Jobs/Careers collections for children ages 8-14. It should also be noted for personal reading lists that each title in this outstanding series from publisher Linda Colwell is also readily available in a digital book format (Kindle, $2.99).

Editorial Note: Linda Soules is the author of the 'So You Want To Be A...' series, a growing collection of career-exploration books for readers ages 8 - 14. Drawing on twenty-five years in law and finance, she brings precision, clarity, and a deep respect for young readers to every book she writes -- never talking down to kids, and always aiming to spark genuine curiosity about the extraordinary range of paths their lives could take. Synopsis: On a small island in the Pacific Bay, a little girl named Jessica has a secret -- she can communicate with nature. In her grandmother's garden, trees, bees, fungi, and forest creatures teach her how ecosystems survive through balance, cooperation, and care. Among them, she is known as Baby Resilience.

Though she quietly wonders about the parents she has never known, the garden reminds Jessica that every living thing has a place-and a purpose.

But middle school brings new challenges. Fitting in feels harder than understanding soil cycles or pollination webs. When a science assignment pairs her with classmates Joelle and Ram, curiosity turns into collaboration. Together, they uncover the powerful connections that link decomposers, plants, animals, air, and water-and realize their school can do better.

What begins as a classroom assignment becomes a real-world mission: launching their school's first recycling and composting program and forming a Green Team to inspire change.

As their efforts grow, so does Jessica's dilemma. If she reveals her lifelong bond with the natural world, will her friends believe her -- or turn away?

Critique: An environmentally themed novel for young readers age 7-13, "Ecosystems Matter" by author/storyteller Jessica Jane Robinson and artist/illustrator Nancy Cato deftly blends imaginative fantasy with genuine environmental science in an original and entertaining story of courage, belonging, and discovery of how nature is an interconnecting and adapting web of life. Synopsis: Why are some plants and fungi more important to an ecosystem than others?

Because they are keystone plants and fungi! While every species has a role to play in an ecosystem, some roles are more significant than others.

In "Keystone Plants and Fungi: Discover the Organisms Vital to Ecosystem Health and Biodiversity" by Laura Perdew, young botanists examine the keystone plants that can make the difference between a thriving ecosystem and a collapsing one. Oak trees, baobab trees, Brazil nut trees, mangroves, saguaro cacti, and certain flowers, grasses, and fungi are all considered keystone species that other species depend upon.

In the 1960s, scientists discovered that keystone species have greater influence on the biodiversity in an ecosystem than other species. Their research revealed that not only do predators play this keystone role in regulating an ecosystem, but so do ecosystem engineers, herbivores, mutualists, and foundational species. Later, the jobs that plants, fungi, and microbes do as keystone species was discovered -- this groundbreaking work changed the way we understand ecosystems and food webs.

In "Keystone Plants and Fungi", young readers will learn about keystone plants and fungi -- including what happens when they disappear and examining the ongoing threats to these species and the science-based conservation practices that are in the works to save them.

"Keystone Plants and Fungi" also includes hands-on activities and critical thinking exercises to help all types of learners gain a deeper understanding of keystone plants' critical roles. These activities, a narrative writing style, fun facts, words-to-know, and primary source links combine to take readers on an exploration of keystone species around the world.

Additional materials featured in "Keystone Plants and Fungi" include a glossary, a list of media for further learning, a selected bibliography, and index. "Keystone Plants and Fungi" is also leveled for Guided Reading level and Lexile and align with Common Core State Standards and Next Generation Science Standards.

Critique: Original, informative, illustrated, expertly crafted, and thoroughly 'kid friendly' in organization and presentation, "Keystone Plants and Fungi: Discover the Organisms Vital to Ecosystem Health and Biodiversity" by environmental and educational expert Laura Perdew and colorfully illustrated by Micah Rauch is especially appropriate and recommended for elementary school, middle school, and home-schooling Environmental Studies collections and classroom curriculum studies lists for children ages 9-12. Synopsis: Levi and Vik are best friends, gamers, and reckless thrill-seekers who are always in search of their next adrenaline rush -- their next virtual adrenaline rush, that is.

But when Levi slacks off with family chores, his soon-to-be stepdad, Bryce, pulls the plug on his electronics. Levi resents the punishment, almost as much as he resents Bryce's annoying attempts to act like a father.

Bored and restless, Levi and Vik opt for a real-life adventure -- a hike up nearby Split Fang Bluff. They climbed the steep mountain twice last spring, but the recent storm that just dumped two feet of snow would make this climb epic!

Levi hopes the climb will shake off his lousy mood about Bryce and his new family setup. But instead, his troubles cycle through his brain in loops of rewind and fast forward.

Meanwhile, Vik, a hardcore Mount Everest geek, can't stop reciting facts about the dangers on that mountain -- avalanches, icefalls, the "Death Zone," and others. But what about Split Fang?

When a severe storm blasts the area, the boys' hyped-up adventure turns into a harrowing battle to stay alive. The boys must use all they've got (gaming skills, mountaineering know-how, their solid friendship, and a reboot on Levi's notion of family) to survive!

Synopsis: Growing up on a remote island with her mother, twelve-year-old Skye is endlessly curious about the natural world (tracking tides, seabirds, starfish) and dreams of becoming a marine biologist. But more than anything, she longs to reunite with the father she's never met and finally feel her family is complete.

When her summer takes an unexpectedly turn and she and her mother travel across the country to care for her ailing grandparents, Skye realizes that opportunity may be closer than she ever imagined. She has spent years collecting clues from her mother's reluctant disclosures, and she is nearly certain her father still lives in her mom's hometown.

Wide-open Wyoming is nothing like Skye's seaside home in Maine: Instead of fishing dinghies and flip-flops, she finds horses, cowboy boots, and dusty rodeo arenas.

As she navigates this unfamiliar world, Skye befriends nine-year-old Tuck Foster, who eagerly helps her investigate a list of possible father candidates that fit Skye's clues. Along the way, she cheers on bull riding, mucks stalls, shoos chickens, and learns to saddle and ride horses. She also grows close her kind-hearted grandmother and curmudgeonly grandfather, who teach her lessons about family, home, grit, and resilience.

In her final days out West (and on the verge of uncovering the truth) Skye discovers what completes a family isn't a specific place, size, or way of life.

It's love.

Advanced elementary and middle school readers might anticipate that Jenna Finds a Dog will be another story about obtaining and caring for a pet, but interactions between Jenna and her found pup, Lucky, provide the opportunity for many thought-provoking reflections on emotional reactions, bad tempers, trust, and understanding.

These added layers of insights translate to added value as Jenna struggles to control her big temper even in the face of bullying and life challenges. From its opening paragraphs, Jenna Finds a Dog adopts a different perspective. Jenna is attending therapy:

"The chairs were too small. That was the first fact of the day. They were plastic and bright blue, the kind made for toddlers who still have jam on their faces. Sitting in one made me feel like a giant. A giant in scratchy grey sweatpants. Around the circle, everyone else was wearing the same grey outfit. We looked like a very small, very gloomy sports team."

This is just the opening salvo of gripping descriptions that chart Jenna's frustrations with her life and her inner emotional volcano which erupts not just at school, but at home:

"See?" I snapped. "She's already picking on me! And great. Give the pills to the nurse. Why not just put it on the school news? Jenna is the girl who takes the crazy-medicine." I was so frustrated I couldn't think. My fingers moved before my brain did. I flicked the milk in Latania's bowl. It splashed all over her clean shirt. I didn't wait for the yelling. I bolted. I slammed the front door so hard the house shivered."

Long before Lucky the dog makes his appearance, challenging Jenna to take care of something outside of herself, Jenna's reactions to life encounters provide realistic scenarios most kids will readily relate to. The story excels in strength and understanding primarily because Jenna's narration is candid and completely understandable. Her growing ability to think outside of her own perceptions and reactions to life translate to moments of recognizing that even Tyson, the biggest bully in her life, has his own challenges which spark unacceptable responses:

"...while my life was getting better, I would find out that Tyson's was getting worse. That's karma. I suppose."

This book may lure young readers with a found puppy, but it delivers so much more impact as Jenna's life unfolds and her new mandates for change come not from adult intervention, but from her unexpected new endeavors. Many books attempt to describe those who struggle with emotional responses to life, but few stories will prove as delightfully embracing and realistic as Jenna Finds a Dog.

This is why Jenna's story is very, very highly recommended not just for elementary-level libraries and adults who like exploring emotional growth with youths, but also for the young person reading and for classroom circles discussing emotional connection, appropriate responses, friendship and responsibility, and more.

Amazon

Off the Rails is a story that will appeal to ages 8-12. Two Texas cousins' early fascination with wolves, which started with a movie about a man living with them, turns into a too-real encounter as they struggle for survival on levels that films never imparted.

Davy tried to get his parents to hire a guide to take them into the wilderness so they could see wolves up close and personal, but though his trip to Montana seems ruined, he winds up in the adventure he coveted when his impulsive cousin Anderson leaps off a stalled train and into a dangerous situation in response to an animal in distress.

Susan Count embeds her story with not just wilderness adventure, but nature. From grizzlies to woodpeckers and arctic foxes and wolves, the boys face all manner of creatures as they confront wilderness dangers and new challenges.

Though Davy is a Wilderness Scout, he doesn't know everything about survival. But his training does help as the boys navigate not only the great outdoors and snowy north, but each other. Count's focus on their evolving relationship, tested by experiences beyond their ken, makes for a gripping saga that elementary to middle grade readers will find thoroughly engaging.

Elementary-level librarians seeking a vivid story of family connections tested by survival challenges will find Off the Rails a fine recommendation to young readers interested in nature, relationship-building, and survival sagas.

Pre-Publication Review

Artie and Gizmo, a man and his tiny Yorkshire Terrier, live right off Boston Harbor where they watch the ships sail past their little home. One evening as they stroll along the Harborwalk, dressed, as usual, in their bathrobes, they encounter a shivering little mouse.

After a veterinarian named Valerie gives the creature a clean bill of health, Artie and Gizmo take their new friend home where Artie crochets a tiny bathrobe for "Mouse," making him the third member of "the robe squad".

The only quibbles I had with this lovely little story were a few of its wildly unrealistic scenarios, especially the ones depicting a dog whose ancestors were bred to catch rodents making friendly overtures to a mouse. Yes, "The Robe Squad" is a children's book, but because Craig Orbach's engaging illustrations are styled realistically, I wondered if they might lead to confusion in young children about the natural relationship between dogs and mice.

Despite this issue, I was completely charmed by "The Robe Squad." Its themes of togetherness, empathy for others, and kindness to small creatures are gently yet powerfully told. And the images of Boston Harbor are so beautiful, The Greater Boston Convention & Visitor's Bureau should find a way to utilize them.

"The Robe Squad" will certainly be embraced by animal lovers of all ages, especially those with geographical or emotional ties to the Boston area.

Editorial Note: Arthur Russell Smith (https://arthurrussellsmith.com), also known as 'The Robe Guy' is a first-time author from Hanover, MA. He currently resides in Charlestown, MA, with his 2.6 lb. teacup Yorkshire Terrier, Gizmo (The Robe Dog). Growing up, Arthur loved to read, with some of his favorite books including The Hardy Boys series and James and the Giant Peach. As a child, he also loved to write, authoring and illustrating three bare books: Dinosaur Duo, Bird Feeding, and Nintendo: Game Tips and Strategies (for the OG NES of course!).

Upon entering university, he planned to study English literature and writing; however, he discovered a love for science and instead focused on biochemistry. After college, he spent nearly a decade working in the lab as a scientist before moving to the business side of science, working I the life sciences and biotech industries for nearly 20 years.

When not working on his latest story for The Robe Squad, he loves spending time with his family, including his parents, his two brothers, and four nieces and nephews. He loves building Legos, listening to podcasts, and reading. He is also a huge fan of all Boston sports teams, especially the Boston Celtics. In fact, if you're ever watching or at a Celtics game, you might see him in the crowd wearing a green Boston Celtics robe.

"Pug and Puppy," the third in Janina Kelly's Pug series, tells the story of Paula Pug, who lives happily with her human until, in a charming mountain cafe, the two meet another human with a puppy named Ben.

One thing leads to another and soon the humans (as well as their canines) are living together. Paula is not happy about this. Ben is young, energetic, and his squeaky toy is far too loud. Paula complains about Ben to her Marmot Woodland friends. What will they suggest? And will their advice help Paula change her mind about Ben?

The print of the text is rather small, so I can't imagine any grandmothers reading this book to their grandkids unless their bifocals are up to date. But if they can figure out a way to do so without hurting their eyes, both adults and young children will certainly delight in Kelly's gently rolling rhymes accompanied by Hardman's brightly colored illustrations which together tell a sweet story of first impressions, acceptance, and what it takes to be a friend.

Editorial Note #1 -- Jamina Kelly: For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to tell stories. I chose a different path at first, but when I became a mother I re-discovered the enchanting world of picture books and fell in love with rhyme. My first book was written for my son, about our family dog... who truly did grow up in a castle! We live in Switzerland, and one of our favourite mountain villages inspired the story.

Editorial Note #2: Tommy Hardman is a children's book illustrator based in Brighton, UK. He believes stories come alive when children can see themselves in the characters. With a passion for expressive, emotion-filled artwork, Tommy bring words to life through vibrant, warmly textured scenes that children love to explore. His work focuses on inclusivity, imagination and visual storytelling.

A bear cub named Betty is excited because Mother is making spaghetti, Betty's favorite food. As she leaves her woodland home to call her father and brother in for supper, Betty cannot contain her excitement and tells her friend, Millie Mouse, the news. Millie laughs at her. Why? Because Betty pronounces the word "spaghetti" as "pasghetti."

Betty laughs right along with Millie and then Hopper, a rabbit with whom Betty has a similar conversation. But when she encounters Mr. Blandings, a wise old turtle, the reader realizes that Betty is a little embarrassed by her speech inability. Mr. Blandings thinks he may have a way to help her. Will it work?

"Little Bear Betty" is a fun, tender way to approach speech issues in children. The charmingly bright, bold images will certainly grab the attention of young book lovers while the gently rhyming text will be fun for adults to read and children to hear.

Editorial Note: Betty Pasghetti is a mother and children's book author who writes with heart, humor, and a deep appreciation for the everyday triumphs of childhood. As an autism mom whose son was nonverbal until age six and continues to navigate speech challenges into adulthood, Betty knows firsthand the patience, dedication, and small miracles that accompany learning to speak. Inspired by real family moments around the dinner table, Little Bear Betty was born from her passion for turning tricky syllables into playful, confidence-building adventures.

When she isn't writing or dreaming up new rhyming adventures, she's celebrating life's quiet victories with her family. Driven by a passion for heartwarming storytelling, Betty writes engaging tales designed to encourage early readers, support language development, and bring families together at bedtime. She finds endless inspiration in the laughter, curiosity, and boundless energy of her sons, who are her greatest joy.

As a little girl and her mother take an evening walk through town, the little girl wonders if she'll ever be able to soar like the pajaros flocking and gliding in the sky. Mami explains that all birds fly without their mothers and she will one day do the same, but the girl can't imagine flying on her own. With alluring illustrations and soothing words, little readers will learn that all you need is a pair of wings to bring you back to Mami's arms. A sweet story to give kids that extra confidence to accomplish their dreams. (Ages 5-8)
