Georgia Totto O'Keeffe (November 15, 1887 - March 6, 1986) was an iconic American
artist. Born near Sun Prairie, Wisconsin, O'Keeffe first came to the attention of the New York art
community in 1916. She made large-format paintings of enlarged blossoms, presenting them
close up as if seen through a magnifying lens, and New York buildings, most of which date from
the same decade. Beginning in 1929, when she began working part of the year in Northern New
Mexico - which she made her permanent home in 1949 - O'Keeffe depicted subjects specific to
that area. O'Keeffe has been recognized as the Mother of American Modernism. She first honed
her remarkable skills as an artist wile summering at Alfred Stieglitz's family estate at Lake
George in upstate New York. It is this early time period in her career as an artist that is the
subject of "Modern Nature: Georgia O'Keeffe and Lake George", a superbly illustrated, 200 page
compendium enhanced with commentaries by the team of Erin B. Coe (Chief Curator of the
Hyde Collection), Gwendolyn Ownes (former consultant curator and assistant director of the
Canadian Centre for Architecture, Montreal, Canada), and Bruce Robertson (Professor of Art

21st Century Mahan: Sound Military Conclusions for the Modern Era collects five lesser-known
writings of Alfred Thayer Mahan (1840-1914), a United States Navy flag officer, geostrategist,
and historian, colloquially dubbed "the most important American strategist of the nineteenth
century". His concept of "sea power", the idea that the nations with greater naval power would
exert more influence upon the world and upon history, directly affected the strategic thinking of
countries worldwide, sparking a European naval arms race in the 1890's (the U.S. participated as
well). Mahan's most famous work is "The Influence of Seapower upon History", which is not
reproduced herein; 21st Century gathers five of Mahan's other writings, with analysis by Lt. Cdr.
Benjamin F. Armstrong, USN. Armstrong offers reader-friendly introductions to Mahan's
writings, which have invaluable insights into strategic thinking. 21st Century Mahan is especially
recommended as a core volume for nautical and military shelves.

The Forgotten Conservative: Rediscovering Grover Cleveland examines the principles, political
thinking, and legacy of Stephen Grover Cleveland (1837-1908), well-known as the only
American president who has ever served two non-consecutive terms. Although Cleveland was a
Democrat, his beliefs and ideals will sound familiar to modern-day conservatives. President
Cleveland cut taxes at every opportunity, championed limits on federal power, vetoed more bills
than all his predecessors combined (most often on the grounds that Congress was either spending
too much, or acting in absence of a clear Constitutional mandate), and held that men should look
to their neighbors and communities for charity when needed, rather than becoming dependent on
the government. At the end of Cleveland's second term, the Democratic party turned notably
more progressive, yet Cleveland's ideals and policies remain part of a historical legacy that
resonates with American conservatives over a century later. The Forgotten Conservative is an
excellent addition to Political Science shelves; liberals and conservatives alike will find this
portrait of a strong-willed and resilient national leader fascinating from cover to cover.

Cloud computing is a colloquial expression used to describe a variety of different types of
computing concepts that involve a large number of computers that are connected through a
real-time communication network (typically the Internet). Cloud computing is a jargon term
without a commonly accepted non-ambiguous scientific or technical definition. In science, cloud
computing is a synonym for distributed computing over a network and means the ability to run a
program on many connected computers at the same time. The popularity of the term can be
attributed to its use in marketing to sell hosted services in the sense of application service
provisioning that run client server software on a remote location. "Cloud Computing" by
computer expert Kris Jamsa is a superbly organized and presented 324 page compendium the
presents an articulate and 'user friendly' introduction to cloud technologies in general, and
specifics about an a service (SaaS), platform as service (PaaS), infrastructure as a service (IaaS),

Award-winning author and John Wilkes Booth descendant W.C. Jameson presents John Wilkes
Booth: Beyond the Grave, the latest in his far-reaching "Beyond the Grave" series re-examining
notable outlaws of history. John Wilkes Booth: Beyond the Grave suggests the possibility that
Booth, the notorious assassin of President Abraham Lincoln, was never captures and executed;
instead, another man was apprehended in Booth's place, while Booth continued his acting career,
married, and had children. The evidence supporting this theory is largely circumstantial; Jameson
draws upon papers and diaries from private collections to make his case, as well as offer a new
window into the mind of a President-killer. Regardless of whether one believes the central
premise, John Wilkes Booth: Beyond the Grave is a captivating perspective, thoroughly
accessible to lay readers and historians alike.

Lyme disease (Lyme borreliosis) is an infectious disease caused by at least three species of
bacteria belonging to the genus Borrelia. Lyme disease is the most common tick-borne disease in
the Northern Hemisphere. Early symptoms may include fever, headache, fatigue, depression, and
a characteristic circular skin rash called erythema migrans (EM). Left untreated, later symptoms
may involve the joints, heart, and central nervous system. In most cases, the infection and its
symptoms are eliminated by antibiotics, especially if the illness is treated early. Delayed or
inadequate treatment can lead to more serious symptoms, which can be disabling and difficult to
treat. "Healing Lyme Disease Coinfections: Complementary and Holistic Treatments for
Bartonella and Mycoplasma" by herbal medicine expert Stephen Harrod Buhner is a superbly
organized and presented 512 page compendium that focuses on the complex synergy between
infection's impact on the body and effective natural holistic methods applying herbs and
vitamin/mineral supplements to the conditions, symptoms and damages that lyme disease gives
rise to. Informed, informative, and very highly recommended for community and academic
library Health/Medicine reference book collections, "Healing Lyme Disease Coinfections" should
be considered essential reading for the non-specialist general reader with concerns about lyme
disease with respect to themselves or a family member.

The Beatles were an English rock band formed in Liverpool in 1960. Their best-known lineup,
consisting of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, became the
greatest and most influential act of the rock era, introducing more innovations into popular music
than any other rock band of the 20th century. Rooted in skiffle and 1950s rock and roll, the
Beatles later utilized several genres, ranging from pop ballads to psychedelic rock, often
incorporating classical elements in innovative ways. In the early 1960s, their enormous
popularity first emerged as "Beatlemania", but as their songwriting grew in sophistication, they
came to be perceived by many fans and cultural observers as an embodiment of the ideals shared
by the era's sociocultural revolutions. "The Best Beatles Book Ever" by musicologist and author
Paul Charles focuses on the years The Beatles were writing and recording their music together as
a group effort. Informed and informative, "The Best Beatles Book Every" is very strongly
recommended reading for their legions of fans -- now aging Babyboomers -- and will prove to be
a popular addition to academic and community library 20th Century Music History reference
collections and supplemental reading lists.
